I’m reluctantly selling my John Deere 270 skidsteer. I purchased it from a friend a little over 2 years and it has run flawlessly for me. I use it around our house to do landscaping work and to move pallets of stone while we were having stacked stone walls constructed. It lifts pallets of stone effortlessly and can move/lift large boulders with ease. We just completed a stacked boulder/flat stacker wall in our back yard and it was able to lift every boulder we asked it to.

The machine currently has 4450 hours and I purchased it 2 years ago with 4297 hours, so only 150 hours during my ownership. Previously, it was used on a friends farm to lift hay and straw bales onto a truck and off the truck into a storage barn. It lived in his barn during the 3 years of his ownership and resides in my heated garage the last 2 years. I wash it every time I use it, wax it twice a year and grease all zero fittings weekly. I just had the hydraulic cooler flushed and a small leak repaired. I also had the radiator side mount resoldered. Both the cooler and radiator were repaired by Cicioni’s in Hazelton as they are the best at those types of repairs and the only ones I trust. All filters were just changed(both air, oil, hydraulic and both fuel) and the drive controls just synchronized. It starts, idles, runs perfectly. And, before anyone who knows these machines asks, YES, the electric emergency brake works perfectly!
To be 1000% upfront and honest about the machine, the only thing that doesn’t work is the 2-speed. It works occasionally and when it wants to. Some days it works fine, other times it doesn’t work for days at a time. I’m guessing it’s the switch/button as all of the wiring looks fine and the relay is new. I didn’t need the higher gear as I only use it in my yard.
*** If you are looking for a “heavy lift” machine, this is the one to take a look at. It weighs almost 9000 pounds and will lift nearly 2 tons. I was considering a track machine so a friend brought over his Bobcat T650 to try out. It couldn’t lift what does. It might lift 3000 pounds but not the large stones I was moving with this 270. Quite shocking as the specs on his machine said it should out perform mine but that just didn’t happen.”
Come see this garage kept machine. I installed new tires 20 hours ago but are not shown in the pictures. They are Carlisle HD 12-16.5 and include chains. There are also 320 pounds of suitcase counter weights(8x40 pounds) included. Finally, he cab has plexiglass side windows. There might be more, but I can’t recall right now. Please ask any questions that you might have and I will do my best to respond ASAP. If you want any additional photos, just ask and I will get them to you as quickly as I can.
The machine can be seen and driven at our home in Dallas. I have pallets of fieldstone and large boulders that can be moved to see the capability of this skidsteer.
